Business
Wild Bunch AG engages in the acquisition, co-production, direct distribution, international sales, and production services for movies and TV series as a leading independent European filmed entertainment company listed on the German stock exchange under the ticker WBAH.DE. Founded in 1979 as Senator Film Verleih GmbH and renamed Wild Bunch AG in June 2015 following its merger with Wild Bunch SA, the company is headquartered in Berlin, Germany, with key operations in Paris, France. It manages a library of more than 2,500 titles and operates a pan-European distribution network across France (Wild Bunch Distribution, Wild Side, Wild Bunch TV), Italy (BIM Distribuzione, BIM Produzione), Germany (Wild Bunch Germany, Central Film Verleih, Senator Film Produktion), Spain (Vértigo Films), and Austria (Wild Bunch Austria); it also provides direct electronic distribution through its French VOD/SVOD service FilmoTV. The company targets theatrical, home entertainment, digital, and television markets for independent and director-led international cinema, including award-winning titles such as The Artist, Blue is the Warmest Color, Dheepan, Drive, The Intouchables, The King’s Speech, and Victoria. In production and co-production, it focuses on films and TV series through brands like Senator Film Produktion in Berlin and BIM Produzione in Italy, with recent successes including DEUTSCHSTUNDE, DILILI A PARIS, LOMMBOCK, and series such as MEDICI: MASTERS OF FLORENCE and OLAF MACHT MUT. Wild Bunch employs approximately 132 people and serves distributors, broadcasters, and electronic platforms across Europe. Recent developments include the November 2021 appointment of Hollywood veteran Ron Meyer as CEO and media executive Sophie Jordan as Co-CEO by controlling shareholder Tennor Group to drive expansion. In June 2021, the company launched Wild Side TV, an AVOD channel in France, and secured a 35 million euro credit line with Commerzbank maturing in October 2022 to support refinancing and strategic initiatives. Other changes within the last few years encompass the 2019 creation of BIM Production in Italy, reorganization of international sales into Wild Bunch International, merger of French distribution entities, divestiture of stakes in Bavaria Pictures and X Verleih AG, and establishment of Wild Bunch Digital in 2017 for e-Cinema, VOD, SVOD, Pay TV, and Free TV activities.
