Business
ISU Chemical Co., Ltd. manufactures and markets petrochemicals and specialty chemicals primarily in South Korea. The company produces linear alkyl benzene (LAB), heavy LAB, branched alkyl benzene (BAB), heavy BAB, toluene alkyl benzene (TAB), normal paraffin (NP) including light NP variants such as NP 10-12, NP 10-13, NP 11-12, NP 12-13, and NP 12-14, linear alkyl sulfonate (LAS), paraffin wax chlorinated model (PCM), parasol, D-Sol (de-aromatic solvent), isopropyl alcohol (IPA), para-isopropyl phenol (parasol), thiadipic dimethyl ester (TDM), normal oleyl methylester (NOM), and normal dodecyl methylester (NDM); it also offers green bio chemicals and operates chemical distribution through ISU Exachem, which trades petrochemicals and precision chemicals including TDM, D-Sol, IPA, and base oil. Founded in 1969 and headquartered at 84, Sapyeong-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea, ISU Chemical maintains production facilities in Ulsan and Onsan, with additional operations including a LAB and MEK plant in China, and conducts global marketing activities. The company serves industries such as detergents, cleaners, metalworking fluids, lubricants, automotive interiors, home appliances, paints, printing inks, tire antioxidants, artificial marble, and nitrile gloves, positioning itself as a leading domestic producer of NP and one of the world's top three for TDM. Recent developments include providing KRW 40 billion in funding to affiliate ISU Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. in May 2025; advancing commercial-scale production of PureLi2S lithium sulfide technology through a joint development agreement with KBR signed in 2023, following successful pilot operations at the Onsan plant in Ulsan; expanding TDM production capacity from 20,000 tons to 30,000 tons with a KRW 13 billion investment, slated for full operation in the second half of 2025; and launching ISU REX 110 branded D-Sol for waste battery recycling diluents via a partnership with EA PHOS. ISU Chemical operates as part of the ISU Group, with subsidiaries including ISU Specialty Chemical, ISU Abxis Co., Ltd., ISU Exachem, ISU E&C, and overseas entities such as ISU Chemical Germany GmbH and Great Orient Chemical Pte. Ltd. in China.
