Business
Dongbu Corporation (005960.KS) operates as a construction and engineering company primarily in South Korea. The company undertakes civil works including roads, bridges, tunnels, port facilities, expressways, railways, subways, water treatment, sewage, airports, leisure facilities and related services; architectural works encompassing medical facilities, government offices, education and research centers, commercial buildings, logistics and sales facilities, sports facilities as well as remodeling; residential works for apartment buildings, apartment houses, rental housing and remodeling; and plant works for environmental, energy, industrial and other plant facilities. It also engages in mine development, rental business, power generation and real estate development and rental activities. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, Dongbu Corporation maintains operations domestically across civil infrastructure, plant, building and housing markets, with recent expansion into Latin America including the Los Chorros road and bridge expansion project in El Salvador financed by the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration. In the past two years, the company has secured major contracts such as the 190.3 billion won Amkor Technology Korea Songdo site new test building expansion in November 2025, the 246 billion won order in December 2025, the 180 billion won order in September 2025 and the 38.2 billion won Samsung Medison Hongcheon plant expansion in September 2025, bolstering its private industrial plant sector portfolio. These wins reflect strategic focus on high-value-added sectors like semiconductors, medical devices and logistics facilities amid an order backlog of approximately 10.9 trillion won as of mid-2025. Previously known as Miryung Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd., it changed its name to Dongbu Corporation in March 1989; it divested its logistics unit Dongbu Express in 2014 and operates independently from the former Dongbu Group affiliates now under DB Group.
