In a series of strategic acquisitions during 2023 to expand into the northern corridor's electrical and electronics ecosystem and silicon photonics markets, Aimflex Berhad acquired a 60% stake in Owin Industrial Sdn. Bhd. in January for automation machines, a 60% stake in Union Tech Automation Sdn. Bhd. in January for precision parts fabrication (with Union Tech purchasing a factory building in Penang in July), and an 80% stake in Esontech Sdn. Bhd. in October for automated equipment tailored to silicon photonics industries; additionally, subsidiary AIMFLEX Systems Sdn. Bhd. received Pioneer Status from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority in January 2023, granting a 10-year 100% income tax exemption on qualifying factory automation systems starting February 2022.
