MetLife, Inc. provides insurance, annuities, employee benefits, and asset management services to individual and institutional customers worldwide. The company offers group life insurance including term life, supplemental life, dependent term, whole life, group universal life, and group variable universal life; dental insurance; disability insurance; accident and health coverage; vision insurance; auto and home insurance; annuities; pet insurance; critical illness insurance; and financial services such as retirement planning, wealth management, 529 plans, banking, commercial and residential mortgages, and investment management solutions encompassing public fixed income, private capital, real estate, leveraged finance, collateralized loan obligations, multi-asset strategies, equity strategies, direct lending, and European real estate. MetLife operates through six primary segments—Group Benefits; Retirement and Income Solutions; Asia; Latin America; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and U.S. Holdings—with leading market positions in the United States, Japan, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East across more than 40 markets. Founded in 1868 and headquartered in New York, the company maintains significant operations in all 50 U.S. states and numerous international locations including Mexico, Brazil, Dubai, and Bangladesh. Recent developments include MetLife Investment Management's agreement to acquire PineBridge Investments for up to $1.2 billion to expand its global asset management platform to over $700 billion in assets under management, targeted to close in 2025; the formation of Chariot Reinsurance Company in partnership with General Atlantic, launched in mid-2025 to support growth in retirement and asset management; expansion of the MetLife Xcelerator program through a partnership with Mercado Libre in Brazil and Mexico announced in 3Q 2025; and the acquisition of high yield, strategic fixed income, and small-cap equity teams managing $6 billion from Mesirow in early 2025.
