Business
The Sherwin-Williams Company manufactures, distributes, and sells paints, coatings, stains, floorcoverings, and related products to residential, commercial, industrial, and professional customers worldwide. Operating through three main segments--Paint Stores Group, Consumer Brands Group, and Performance Coatings Group--the company offers an extensive portfolio including architectural paints and coatings; primers; commercial high-performance coatings for industrial, marine, packaging, and automotive applications; deck stains and supplies; siding stains; concrete and masonry repair, restoration, and protection systems; roof coatings; pavement and turf marking products; aerosols; floor coatings; wood stains, sealers, and clear topcoats; and ceiling paints, marketed under brands such as Valspar, Krylon, Minwax, Cabot, Dutch Boy, and HGTV Home. Founded in 1866 and headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Sherwin-Williams conducts business in over 120 countries with more than 4,700 company-owned stores, primarily in the Americas, and maintains global manufacturing and distribution facilities. In recent developments, the company completed its $1.15 billion acquisition of BASF's Brazilian architectural paints business, including the Suvinil brand, in October 2025 to strengthen its Latin American presence and achieve sales acceleration with cost synergies; it joined the Dow Jones Industrial Average in November 2024; and continues investments in new headquarters and R&D facilities in the Cleveland area.
