Business
Flamemaster Corporation manufactures and sells specialty chemicals, including a diverse line of military and commercial sealants such as polysulfide, polythioether, silicone, fuel tank sealants, pressure cabin sealants, electrical sealants, and optical sealants; fire protection products and flame-retardant coatings used to prevent fire propagation in electrical cables within cable trays, junction boxes, and fire stops; heat-resistant ablative coatings for protecting components and structural surfaces like naval vessel decks and missile launch surfaces; electrical potting compounds; optical adhesives; modified epoxies; epoxy bonding compounds for construction materials; and epoxy joint sealers. The company serves the aerospace, defense, energy, marine, and transportation industries, primarily OEMs and MRO markets with customers including Lockheed Martin, Bombardier Aerospace, the U.S. Navy, and the Department of Defense; it operates from its headquarters in Pacoima, California, where it expanded to a 54,000 square foot facility in 2006. Founded in 1942 as Dyna-Therm Chemical Company, Flamemaster changed its name in 1973 and functions as a subsidiary of SocoFlame, Inc., itself a subsidiary of Groupe Socomore; in July 2023, Socomore increased its stake to 73.97% through acquisition of additional shares, and in January 2024, SocoFlame completed a full acquisition via tender offer and merger, enabling expanded global aerospace presence, new market development beyond U.S. military, enhanced production capabilities, and complementary product bundling with Socomore's offerings.
