Business
Fuji Nihon Seito Corporation engages in the manufacture and sale of refined sugar and sugar-related products in Japan. Its core product portfolio includes refined white sugar, granulated sugar, brown and medium brown sugar, rock sugar, liquid sugar, and liquid brown sugar. The company also produces inulin, a water-soluble fiber derived from vegetables for intestinal health, and cut flower nutrients and vitalizers marketed under the KEEPFLOWER brand. Beyond product manufacturing, Fuji Nihon provides consultancy services to growers, florists, and customers, leveraging its expertise in agricultural and food science. Operating through four business segments, Fuji Nihon serves primarily the Japanese market but also maintains regional presence through subsidiaries, including Fuji Nihon (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The company places a strong emphasis on food science technology, offering proprietary extraction and powder formulation technologies for food additives and functional materials. Its technologies encompass spray drying powderization, vacuum drying, and homogenizing mixing, used to manufacture various food ingredient formulations such as vitamin compounds, seasoning mixes, and antioxidants. Recent major developments include a strategic partnership with global agribusiness Cargill and its subsidiary Unitec Foods to enhance food ingredient innovations and expand distribution networks across Japan and the Asia Pacific region. Fuji Nihon also completed an acquisition of an additional 21% stake in Day Plus Co., Ltd., strengthening its position in food ingredient processing. Furthermore, it holds a joint investment with Sojitz Corporation in Tastable Co., Ltd., a developer of plant-based meat products branded as NIKUVEGE, reflecting the company's strategic move into alternative protein markets. Financially, Fuji Nihon reported a 4.2% increase in net sales for the six months ended September 2025 but faced a 6.9% decline in profit attributable to shareholders, signaling some profitability challenges despite revenue growth. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Fuji Nihon Seito Corporation continues to be a recognized leader in sugar manufacturing and food ingredient processing, combining traditional expertise with modern food science innovations to meet evolving consumer and industrial needs. Its ongoing operational focus includes expanding product offerings in functional food ingredients and strengthening collaborative alliances to enhance market competitiveness and technological capabilities in the Asia Pacific region.
