Business
Verastem, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSTM), doing business as Verastem Oncology, is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing novel small molecule therapies targeting the RAS/MAPK pathway in cancers, including RAF/MEK inhibition, FAK inhibition, and KRAS G12D inhibition; its lead approved combination product, avutometinib (AVMAPKI, VS-6766), a RAF/MEK clamp, and defactinib (FAKZYNJA), a FAK inhibitor, received U.S. FDA approval in 2025 for recurrent KRAS-mutant low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC) under the brand AVMAPKI FAKZYNJA CO-PACK; the company advances additional pipeline candidates in RAS/MAPK-driven solid tumors such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other KRAS-mutant cancers through ongoing Phase 3 (RAMP 301) and Phase 2 trials. Verastem Oncology operates primarily in the United States with a global clinical trial footprint, targeting patients with recurrent and aggressive cancers associated with RAS pathway alterations that affect nearly one-third of all cancers. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Needham, Massachusetts, the company sold its previous asset duvelisib to Secura Bio, refocused on the RAS/MAPK franchise, announced debt refinancing and a $7.5 million stock purchase with Oberland Capital in January 2025, and entered a strategic commercialization partnership with IQVIA to support the mid-2025 launch of avutometinib plus defactinib; additional collaborations include Chugai Pharmaceutical, GenFleet Therapeutics (with Phase 1/2a data updates for VS-7375 in 2025), Pfizer, and Amgen to enhance research and global reach.
