Business
Solus Advanced Materials Co. Ltd. is a South Korea-based company specializing in the manufacture and supply of advanced materials with a focus on battery copper foil for electric vehicle (EV) batteries; copper foil for various electronic equipment; electro materials for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display devices including mobile phones, TVs, and vehicle, tablet, and PC displays; as well as natural bio materials used in pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, and nutraceutical ingredients. The company operates manufacturing facilities in South Korea, Europe (notably Hungary), and North America (Quebec, Canada), serving the global electric vehicle battery, AI accelerator, and OLED markets. Established as a spin-off from Doosan Electro Materials in 2019 and headquartered in South Korea, Solus Advanced Materials targets long-term growth through technological innovation and expansions in key material segments. Recently, the company has pursued strategic expansions and operational enhancements, including completing a new integrated plant in Hamyeol, North Jeolla Province, to improve production efficiency and cost competitiveness of OLED materials. Solus is advancing its battery copper foil business by broadening its customer base beyond its major clients LG Energy Solution and key North American customers, expecting to double its battery foil client contracts by 2026. The company is also preparing to complete a battery foil production facility in Quebec, Canada, the only plant in North America producing battery foil for energy storage systems (ESS), which is expected to capitalize on growing ESS market demand. Additionally, Solus plans to divest its copper foil business supplying AI accelerator materials by the end of 2025, using proceeds to fund further battery foil business expansion. Its European operations are positioned to benefit from the recovery of the EV market and regional subsidy incentives, with the Hungary plant expected to reach near-full utilization in the second half of 2026. Solus Advanced Materials’ product portfolio extends to high-end copper foil products for AI accelerators and next-generation OLED materials including research into blue and green host materials, thermally activated delayed fluorescence emitters, and quantum dots. The company engages in continuous R&D to develop innovative materials and solutions that support future high-tech industries such as electric vehicles, AI, and advanced displays. Solus maintains a strong presence in the electric vehicle supply chain, OLED display materials market, and bio materials sector through subsidiaries like Solus Biotech, targeting pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries globally. The group emphasizes sustainable growth by leveraging global production bases, diversified clients, and advanced material technologies. Overall, Solus Advanced Materials is strategically expanding its production capacity and customer base in battery copper foil and OLED display materials while streamlining operations through strategic divestments and new plant developments to strengthen its global leadership in advanced materials for electric vehicles, AI, and next-generation display applications. Its footprint across South Korea, Europe, and North America supports its position as a critical supplier in the evolving material solutions market for future industries.
