Business
Tomoegawa Co., Ltd. operates as a comprehensive developer, manufacturer, and distributor of advanced materials and components, primarily serving markets in Japan and globally. Established in 1914 as a pioneer in industrial specialty paper, the company has since evolved, leveraging its foundational expertise in papermaking, coating, adhesives, and powder technologies. Their diverse portfolio spans several key business areas, including semiconductor and display-related products, functional sheets, toner, and security media, while actively pursuing new business ventures. Within its semiconductor and display-related segment, Tomoegawa provides crucial electronic components such as lead frame fixing tapes, where it holds a significant global market share, alongside various adhesive tapes, electrostatic chucks, and specialized materials for hermetic seal packages. The company also offers optical adhesive films, light control films, hard coat films, and refractive index matching films for display applications. A core focus is on products designed to manage heat, electricity, and electromagnetic waves, which are vital for the proper function of modern, high-density electronic devices, encompassing offerings like high-performance heat sinks and flexible planar heaters. The functional sheet business encompasses a broad range of high-performance sheets and specialty papers. This includes advanced electromagnetic wave absorption sheets, high insulation and heat-conductive adhesive sheets, low-dielectric tangent sheets, re-affixable thermal conduction sheets, and conductive adhesive sheets for various industrial applications, including engineering plastic integral molding. Their specialty paper division produces insulating paper for electrical applications, magnetic sheet materials for tickets and cards, inkjet, laser printer, sublimation printer, and thermal recording papers, as well as specialized fiber sheets crafted from stainless steel, fluorine, inorganic materials, copper, and cellulose fiber compounds. While transitioning from domestic paper production at its Shizuoka plant by early 2027, the company aims to continue certain insulating paper manufacturing through international subsidiaries. In its toner business, Tomoegawa is recognized as a leading specialist producer of fine particle materials for printing. Its offerings include magnetic, non-magnetic, and full-color toners, as well as innovative lower energy fixable types, catering to the needs of photocopiers and printers worldwide. The security media segment focuses on the manufacturing and processing of secure documents, payment cards (certified for major card schemes in Japan), and magnetic recording products, alongside information processing services. Additionally, a dedicated new business development division explores emerging opportunities in areas such as 5G, digital transformation, energy efficiency, and environmental solutions, including eco-friendly products under its "GREEN CHIP" brand. Tomoegawa Co., Ltd. remains headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and was reclassified to the Chemicals industry on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 2023.
