In October 2025, AirAsia X Berhad fulfilled all conditions precedent in its Share Sale and Purchase Agreements with Capital A Berhad, making unconditional its acquisitions of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited (holding stakes in AirAsia Thailand, AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Philippines, and AirAsia Cambodia) and AirAsia Berhad; these transactions establish a consolidated platform rebranded as AirAsia Group, enabling service of both medium- and short-haul routes across Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and beyond with enhanced synergies in fleet planning, digital operations, and customer experience. The company secured shareholder approval for these acquisitions in October 2024 and obtained a RM1 billion private placement commitment alongside regulatory exemptions, including from Thailand; it launched its inaugural Kuala Lumpur-Istanbul route in November 2025 with four weekly flights, marking entry into Europe, and plans additional European routes from 2026 alongside expansions to Russia and further Middle East destinations.
