Business
I-PEX Inc. is a Japan-based manufacturer specializing in the development and production of electronic connectors, sensors, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, molds, automation systems, and contract manufacturing services. The company's core products include a diverse range of connectors such as RF connectors, micro-coaxial and twinax connectors, board-to-board connectors, FPC/FFC connectors, I/O connectors, wire-to-board connectors and terminals, and optical modules. I-PEX also produces sensors including ESTORQ, ES-gripper, ES-hand, and torque sensor products, and provides semiconductor manufacturing equipment coupled with precision molding and assembly solutions. Its contract manufacturing business encompasses automotive components, custom connectors, precision molded parts, automatic molding machines, and molded products, supported by ultra-high precision mold manufacturing and complex molding technologies. The company operates primarily in Japan, with a global outreach in automotive, electronics, and semiconductor industries. Founded in 1963 and headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, I-PEX operates as a subsidiary of DMC Co., Ltd. In a major recent change, I-PEX relocated its headquarters from Fushimi-ku to the central Shijo Karasuma area of Kyoto effective January 1, 2026, aiming to enhance organizational efficiency and drive innovation. In late 2024, I-PEX underwent a significant ownership change when UDON INC acquired 91.13% of its shares through a tender offer, leading to a reduced free float and its removal from relevant indices by December 2024. The company continues to expand its manufacturing capabilities and business scope, including intensified development of automotive parts, piezoelectric MEMS devices, photoelectric connectors for telecommunications, and engagement in sustainability initiatives such as the Science Based Targets initiative. I-PEX maintains five business fields: Connectors, Contract Manufacturing, Molds & Equipment, MEMS Foundry, and Energy Solutions, underpinning its position as an innovative product development and engineering solutions expert in technology hardware and equipment sectors.
