Business
Ain Holdings Inc. operates Japan's leading dispensing pharmacy business alongside a unique retail business encompassing cosmetics and interior furnishing stores. Its core products and services include prescription drug dispensing across more than 1,200 pharmacies nationwide; wholesale of generic drugs; pharmacy staffing and consulting services; retail sales of cosmetics through its ainz & tulpe brand targeting urban female consumers; and operation of Francfranc stores offering interior goods and lifestyle sundries. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Japan, Ain Holdings also engages in real estate rental strategies. The company recently expanded its pharmacy network significantly by acquiring rival Kraft, operator of the Sakura pharmacy chain, in a transaction valued at over 100 billion yen (approximately $690 million), strengthening its position in the prescription-filling sector amid healthcare market shifts. Ain Holdings operates over 1,550 stores including 1,290 dispensing pharmacies, 95 cosmetics outlets, and 165 furnishing stores, and employs around 18,300 staff including 6,786 pharmacists, making it a major healthcare and retail player across Japan. The company adapts to industry changes such as deregulation and online pharmaceutical guidance while emphasizing cooperation with healthcare professionals to support local healthcare services and promote beauty and lifestyle improvements through its retail brands. This combination of pharmacy and retail operations reflects a diversified business model anchored in healthcare provision and consumer lifestyle enhancement. Recent financial performance includes net sales of ¥456.8 billion and operating profit of ¥16.9 billion for the fiscal year ending April 2025. Ain Holdings is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market and the Sapporo Securities Exchange.
