Business
AlzChem Group AG is a Germany-based specialty chemicals company that develops, produces, and markets a broad range of chemical specialties. Its main products include dietary supplements such as the premium creatine brand Creapure and Creavitalis; pharmaceutical raw materials; precursors for PCR tests including guanidine thiocyanate and guanidine hydrochloride salts; silicon nitride powder for ceramics, coatings, and photovoltaics; and chemical ingredients for sectors such as human and animal nutrition, agriculture, renewable energy, and metallurgy. The company operates its production sites in Germany and Sweden, alongside sales subsidiaries in the USA, China, and the UK. It serves global markets with a focus on profitable niche sectors, including biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, renewable energies, and defense industries. Founded in 1908 and headquartered in Trostberg, Germany, AlzChem employs around 1,730 people and generated group sales of approximately EUR 554 million in 2024. Recent strategic developments include a significant cooperation launched in October 2025 with Ehrmann to roll out high-protein creatine products featuring Creavitalis, targeting a broader consumer base with sports nutrition and health-focused offerings. Additionally, in 2025, the Czechoslovak Group acquired a 9.2% stake in AlzChem, marking a strategic alliance aimed at broadening industrial synergies and expanding AlzChem's market reach, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. The company has also embarked on a share buyback program starting December 2024 to enhance shareholder value. AlzChem continues to expand its specialty chemical portfolio with innovations such as Eminex, a manure treatment product designed to reduce methane emissions, which is being launched beyond Germany into the Belgian and Dutch markets. The company positions itself strongly in sustainable chemical solutions aligned with global trends like climate change and healthy aging. AlzChem operates through several business segments: Specialty Chemicals, which includes advanced products such as CreAMINO, Creapure, BioSelect, Silzot, DYHARD, and Dormex; Basics & Intermediates, focused on fundamental chemical building blocks; and Other & Holding, which manages chemical parks in Trostberg and Hart. The company maintains a vertically integrated supply chain designed to ensure production reliability and sustainability with a strong emphasis on “Made in Germany” quality standards. AlzChem’s strategic focus on specialty chemicals allows it to capitalize on rising demand in nutrition, health, agriculture, renewable energy, and defense sectors worldwide. Overall, AlzChem Group AG ranks as a market leader in specialty chemicals with a comprehensive product portfolio tailored to address critical global challenges, supported by recent strategic partnerships, innovative product launches, and expansion of its operational footprint across Europe and international markets.
