Business
EMSTEEL Building Materials PJSC, formerly known as Emirates Steel Arkan, is a United Arab Emirates-based industrial manufacturing enterprise engaged in the production and supply of steel and building materials. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the company operates as a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company PJSC (ADQ) and serves the construction, infrastructure, energy, and heavy manufacturing sectors across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The company operates through two primary business divisions: Steel and Building Materials. Its Steel product portfolio includes heavy and medium structural sections such as universal beams, columns, parallel flange channels, and equal angles; standard and high-strength reinforcing steel bars (rebar) and rebar coils; hot-rolled wire rods in high, medium, and low carbon grades for drawing, fasteners, and welding applications; Z-type and U-type steel sheet piles; and semi-finished continuous cast steel billets. Its Building Materials product portfolio includes ordinary Portland cement, sulfate-resistant cement, and ground granulated blast furnace slag cement; dry mortar formulations, plasters, tile adhesives, and masonry premixes; solid, hollow, and thermal precast concrete masonry blocks; interlocking concrete paving pavers and kerbstones; glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping systems for municipal and industrial water infrastructure; and multi-ply industrial paper bags and packaging solutions. In September 2024, the enterprise executed a major corporate transformation and unified its operational subsidiaries under the new corporate identity of EMSTEEL Building Materials PJSC, transitioning from Emirates Steel Arkan. Recent strategic developments include a partnership with the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) to commission the region's first green hydrogen-powered pilot project for low-emission steel production, the expansion of industrial-scale carbon capture and storage initiatives in cooperation with ADNOC, and the commercial rollout of ES600 premium high-strength rebar designed to reduce overall material consumption in structural engineering projects.
