Business
Anglo-Eastern Plantations Plc is a United Kingdom-based producer and processor of palm oil and rubber through the ownership, operation and development of extensive plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia. The company cultivates oil palm and rubber trees and processes fresh fruit bunches (FFB) into crude palm oil (CPO), palm kernel, and related products including palm kernel expeller, rubber, shell nut, biomass products and biogas products; it operates six palm oil mills primarily in Indonesia across regions such as North Sumatera, Bengkulu, South Sumatera, Riau, Bangka and Kalimantan, with additional plasma operations and a smaller footprint in Malaysia totaling approximately 75,000 hectares of planted area. Founded in 1985 and headquartered at Quadrant House, Floor 6, 4 Thomas More Square in London, the company serves global markets for vegetable oils and natural rubber with a focus on sustainable practices including zero deforestation, zero burning and best management for soil and peat. In August 2024, it invested in a large compressed natural gas plant at the Tasik Raja Palm Oil Mill in North Sumatra, Indonesia; in November 2025, it proposed the acquisition of PT Jaya Jadi Utama for approximately $9 million to expand adjacent to its PT Kahayan Agro Plantation estate, enhancing operational efficiencies, logistics and fresh fruit bunch supply for a new mill; earlier in August 2025, it announced an £8 million share buyback program following strong half-year results with revenue up 39%, gross profit up 76% and profit before tax up 78%, while a November 2025 trading update reported increased own FFB production for the nine months ending September 30, 2025 and cash equivalents of about $240 million. The company, recently rebranded in some references as AEP Plantations PLC, maintains majority ownership by Genton International, part of the estate of Lim Siew Kim, and continues to prioritize long-term production growth and shareholder value amid elevated crude palm oil prices.
