Business
Agfa-Gevaert NV develops, produces and distributes analog and digital imaging systems and IT solutions primarily for the printing industry, healthcare sector and specific industrial applications; its core offerings span Digital Print & Chemicals including high-speed multi-pass and single-pass printers, inks, synthetic paper and consumables for sign & display, packaging and industrial printing; Radiology Solutions encompassing direct radiography systems, computed radiography, X-ray films, image processing and AI-enhanced tools; and HealthCare IT featuring enterprise imaging platforms, PACS, cloud-based SaaS solutions, cardiology reporting and data management systems. Headquartered in Mortsel, Belgium, and founded in 1867 through the merger of Agfa and Gevaert entities, the company operates production facilities in nine countries including Belgium, the United States, Canada, Germany, China and Brazil, with sales organizations in over 40 countries worldwide. Recent developments include the closure of its acquisition of Inca Digital Printers to bolster high-end digital printing capabilities in packaging and corrugation markets; strategic partnerships such as with Rad AI for radiology workflow enhancements, EFI for digital printing equipment, and VITO for next-generation electrolysis membranes under the ZIRFON brand supporting green hydrogen production; expansion of cloud-based HealthCare IT wins with institutions like Tampa General Hospital and Alliance Medical across the UK and Ireland; establishment of a new industrial-scale ZIRFON production plant in Mortsel; and resolution of long-standing AgfaPhoto legal disputes via a favorable arbitration award.
