- Amal Ltd manufactures and markets bulk chemicals based on sulphur, including sulphuric acid, oleum, sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide; these products serve industries such as dyes, fertiliser, personal care, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, textile, electroplating, breweries and food. The company operates a manufacturing plant in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India, with headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra; it was founded in 1974 as Piramal Rasayan Ltd by the Piramal Group, transferred control to Atul Ltd in 1985-86, and adopted its current name in 2003. Amal Ltd maintains a wholly-owned subsidiary, Amal Speciality Chemicals Ltd, incorporated in 2020, and engages in ongoing related party transactions with promoter Atul Ltd, representing about 16% of its annual turnover, to achieve synergies in operations, logistics and sustainability.
