Business
Andhra Paper Limited is a leading integrated paper and pulp manufacturer in India specializing in the production of writing, printing, copier papers, and a wide range of specialty papers used in various applications such as charts, batteries, pictures, cups, and packaging materials. The company manufactures paper, paperboard, and pulp with production facilities located in Rajahmundry and Kadiyam, Andhra Pradesh, having a combined capacity of approximately 240,000 to 259,400 tonnes per annum. Andhra Paper serves both domestic and foreign markets, offering products such as copier paper, writing and printing papers, specialty papers, stiffeners, poster papers, coating base papers, and rice papers. The company operates under the parentage of West Coast Paper Mills Limited, which acquired a majority stake in 2019, and leverages modern technology and sustainability initiatives in its operations. Founded in 1964, Andhra Paper is headquartered in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. Recent strategic developments include a significant capital expenditure project comprising the installation of a state-of-the-art tissue paper production line with a daily capacity of 129 tonnes at the Kadiyam manufacturing facility, executed in partnership with Valmet AB, Sweden. This INR 125 crore investment aims to diversify the company's product portfolio to include tissue papers such as facial tissue, toilet tissue, napkins, and towel-grade tissue to address rising demand driven by urbanization, healthcare, and hygiene sectors. Additionally, Andhra Paper is undertaking upgrades to its pulp and recovery systems, modernizing existing paper machines with automated technology, and improving operational efficiencies with a combined capital outlay of around ₹520 crore. The company also intends to meet evolving environmental standards with regulatory consents from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and is strengthening its board with recent appointments and reappointments of independent directors. Andhra Paper's core business segments focus on paper and paperboard manufacturing for industries including printing, packaging, and specialty usage, targeting institutional, commercial, and retail customers across India and select international markets. The company maintains a workforce of approximately 2,500 employees and emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and quality in its product offerings and operational practices. The leadership changes and ongoing capacity expansion reflect Andhra Paper's strategic shift toward greater product diversification and enhanced market competitiveness in the paper industry.
