Business
Argos Therapeutics, Inc. was a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing personalized immunotherapies for serious conditions such as cancer and infectious diseases. Utilizing its proprietary Arcelis technology platform, the firm focused on creating treatments tailored to individual patients, leveraging their own biological components to stimulate immune responses. The company's primary experimental therapy, rocapuldencel-T, was a dendritic cell-based vaccine undergoing Phase III clinical trials for metastatic renal cell carcinoma, while another candidate, AGS-004, was in Phase II development for HIV treatment. Additionally, Argos Therapeutics explored preclinical programs for autoimmune disorders like systemic lupus. Facing significant challenges, Argos Therapeutics discontinued its pivotal ADAPT trial for rocapuldencel-T in April 2018 after an interim review indicated the study would not achieve its primary endpoints. This led to the company's delisting from Nasdaq and a search for strategic alternatives. Subsequently, in November 2018, Argos Therapeutics initiated Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings to safeguard its remaining assets. By February 2019, most of its assets were acquired by Korean biotechnology companies, SCM Lifescience and Genexine, through a bankruptcy auction, with the acquired operations subsequently rebranded as CoImmune. Argos Therapeutics, Inc. officially ceased operations in September 2019 following a Chapter 7 liquidation filing.
