Business
Altius Renewable Royalties Corp. (ARR.TO) operates as a renewable energy royalty company that provides long-term, royalty-level investment capital to renewable power developers, operators, and originators across North America. The company holds a diversified portfolio of royalties on approximately 2.9 gigawatts (GW) of operational wind, solar, and hydroelectric projects located primarily in Texas, Kansas, California, and Vermont; additional royalties on 5.3 GW of projects under construction or in development phases across various U.S. regional power pools; and indirect interests through Great Bay Renewables in third-party developers such as Bluestar Energy Capital, Hodson Energy, and Hexagon Energy, which expand the total project pipeline to about 18.6 GW. Founded in 2018 and headquartered at 38 Duffy Place in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, ARR functions as a subsidiary of Altius Royalty Corporation and targets renewable energy operators seeking non-dilutive financing solutions. In December 2024, ARR completed a statutory plan of arrangement whereby Royal Aggregator LP, an affiliate of Northampton Capital Partners LLC, acquired all outstanding common shares not already held by Altius Minerals Corporation for CAD 12 per share in a transaction valued at approximately CAD 150 million, marking a significant ownership restructuring and strategic partnership to support further portfolio growth. This follows earlier backing from funds managed by Apollo Global Asset Management and ongoing expansion of its royalty interests amid the global energy transition.
