Business
First Trust BICK Index Fund (BICK) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance of the ISE BICK Index, which focuses on the largest and most liquid public companies domiciled in Brazil, India, China and South Korea (BICK). The fund normally invests at least 90% of its net assets in common stocks and depositary receipts comprising the index, spanning all-cap sizes, growth and value stocks across diversified sectors including consumer discretionary, financials, technology and materials. It provides investors with targeted exposure to emerging market equities in these four high-growth economies; holds approximately 86 securities with the top 10 positions representing around 24% of assets; and distributes dividends, such as the $0.36 payment in late 2022. Launched on April 12, 2010, as a series of First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund II, the fund is managed by First Trust Advisors L.P., a privately held investment advisor founded in 1991 and headquartered at 120 E. Liberty Drive, Suite 400, Wheaton, Illinois. First Trust Advisors oversees a broad range of exchange-traded funds, unit investment trusts, closed-end funds and mutual funds with approximately $299 billion in assets under management as of September 30, 2025. The BICK fund primarily serves institutional and retail investors seeking broad emerging markets exposure beyond traditional benchmarks. In a significant operational change, First Trust Advisors announced the approval of the fund's liquidation on June 6, 2023, due to insufficient assets, with trading ceasing on July 14, 2023, and final distributions to shareholders occurring around July 21, 2023. This decision followed recommendations from the investment advisor and was approved by the Board of Trustees of First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund II to best serve remaining shareholders. The termination reflects ongoing portfolio rationalization by First Trust, amid broader activities including recent mutual fund reorganizations in October 2025 and fee waivers for fixed-income ETFs in December 2025. As of the official First Trust website, the fund is listed as terminated, with no subsequent relaunches or reorganizations reported.
