Business
Birla Tyres Limited is an Indian manufacturer specializing in automotive tyres, producing a comprehensive range of products including truck and bus tyres, small and light commercial vehicle (SCV/LCV) tyres, passenger car tyres, two- and three-wheeler tyres, as well as farm and mining tyres. The company offers both bias and radial tyres catering to diverse load requirements and operational conditions, with specific brands such as Roadmaxx, BT Safemaxx, BT Citymaxx, BT Sportmaxx for two-wheelers; Hulk SL, Hulk Hug, Hulk Rib for three-wheelers; Ultra-Drive Platina, Ultra-Miler Platina for LCVs; and Kalapatthar, Ultra Tac, Grader Max for agricultural and off-the-road (OTR) applications. Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, Birla Tyres operates across India with a network of over 170 sales depots and an international presence in 17 countries. The company was originally a division of Kesoram Industries and had a collaboration with Pirelli for tyre development. Recent major changes include its acquisition by Himadri Specialty Chemical Limited and Dalmia Bharat Refractories in 2023 under an insolvency resolution plan, with a relaunch planned for 2025 that introduces a product portfolio expansion to include OTR tyres and both cross-ply and radial tyres, marking the company's first foray into radial tyre production. This strategic acquisition and relaunch signify a major operational and product shift aimed at strengthening Birla Tyres' market positioning and technology capabilities. The company continues to serve various industrial and agricultural sectors, focusing on high quality and diversified tyre solutions.
