Business
ProShares Ultra Bitcoin ETF (BITU) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, corresponding to two times (2x) the daily performance of the Bloomberg Bitcoin Index. The fund provides leveraged exposure to bitcoin price movements through derivatives including swap agreements on spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds such as iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), CME bitcoin futures contracts, money market instruments comprising U.S. Treasury bills and repurchase agreements, and reverse repurchase agreements; it does not invest directly in bitcoin and maintains a wholly-owned Cayman Islands subsidiary to facilitate certain derivative investments. BITU trades on NYSE Arca with an expense ratio of 0.98%, monthly distributions, and options availability. Launched on April 1, 2024 and managed by ProShare Advisors LLC, a subsidiary of ProShares Trust headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, the fund targets investors seeking amplified daily bitcoin returns and operates within the cryptocurrency derivatives segment of the financial markets. In recent developments, BITU announced a dividend of $0.42703 per share payable on December 1, 2025 to shareholders of record on that date, alongside ongoing portfolio rebalancing involving major swaps with counterparties like Nomura, Goldman Sachs, Barclays Capital, and JPMorgan; the fund experienced price volatility including a new 52-week low of $26.65 in November 2025 and a prospectus update dated September 26, 2025 reflecting current strategies and risks.
