- Siren Nasdaq NexGen Economy ETF (BLCN) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks long-term capital growth by tracking the investment returns, before fees and expenses, of the Nasdaq Blockchain Economy Index. The fund invests in a portfolio of 50 to 100 global companies publicly committing material resources to developing, researching, supporting, innovating, or utilizing blockchain technology for business applications such as cross-border payments, secure data storage, trusted transactions, and supply chain management; these Blockchain Companies derive primary revenue from non-blockchain products or services that stand to benefit from blockchain efficiencies, including common stocks, American Depositary Receipts, and Global Depositary Receipts of firms in technology (approximately 42%), financial services (approximately 44%), and other sectors with indirect cryptocurrency exposure through Cryptocurrency Operating Companies. The fund employs a replication strategy, investing at least 80% of its assets in Index components weighted by proprietary Blockchain Scores, with quarterly reconstitutions and rebalances as needed; it maintains exposure to U.S. (approximately 66%), non-U.S. developed and emerging markets including Japan, China, and Taiwan, and targets large-, mid-, and small-capitalization equities across global exchanges. Launched on January 17, 2018, and listed on Nasdaq, BLCN is managed by SRN Advisors, LLC, with portfolio manager Scott Freeze since November 2020, and is domiciled in the United States with an expense ratio of 0.68%. In a significant reorganization on November 23, 2020, the fund acquired the assets and liabilities of the Reality Shares Nasdaq NexGen Economy ETF, a predecessor series of Reality Shares ETF Trust, assuming its performance history; the Index originated from a partnership between Reality Shares, Inc. and Nasdaq, Inc., with no reported acquisitions, funding rounds, partnerships, or product launches for BLCN within the last 1-2 years, though the fund continues quarterly Index adjustments including March, June, September, and December 2024 reconstitutions.
