Business
Blue Star Helium Limited (ASX:BNL) is an independent helium exploration, development and production company focused on high-grade helium deposits in North America; the company targets low-cost helium supplies from the Lyons Formation and associated carbon dioxide resources through projects including Voyager, Galactica/Pegasus and an option on Great Plains Field assets. Headquartered in Subiaco, Western Australia and founded in 1987 (formerly Big Star Energy Limited until April 2020), Blue Star Helium holds extensive acreage of approximately 303,544 gross acres (193,530 net) primarily in Las Animas County, Colorado, with additional interests in Lincoln and Cheyenne Counties; operations center on drilling development wells, gas processing and commercialization of helium (concentrations up to 3.30%) and CO2 (up to 98.31%) for markets including medical imaging, semiconductors, fiber optics and space exploration. Core activities encompass helium extraction via natural gas streams using amine/CO2 removal units and helium recovery units (cryogenic distillation or pressure swing adsorption), well flow testing (rates up to 600 Mcfd stabilized), permitting for processing facilities like the Pinon Canyon Plant, and strategic infrastructure tie-ins with partners such as IACX Energy. Recent developments include the completion of a six-well drilling program at Galactica/Pegasus in June 2025 funded under a 50% joint venture with Helium One Global Ltd (earn-in satisfied via US$1.5 million payment plus well costs), securing a Major Facilities Permit for the Pinon Canyon helium and CO2 plant in April 2025, advancing final plant design and equipment mobilization for first helium production targeted in H2 2025 (December timing) followed by CO2 in H1 2026, positive flow testing at Great Plains wells like Bubba State 3 (740 Mcfd, 2.01% helium), and a A$4.54 million equity placement in July 2025 to fund Phase 1 development.
