Business
American Beacon Man Large Cap Value Fund R5 Class (BRLVX) is an open-end mutual fund that seeks long-term total return on capital, primarily through capital appreciation and some income, by investing at least 80% of its net assets in a diversified portfolio of large-cap value stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange, NYSE American, or Nasdaq. The fund, sub-advised by Numeric Investors LLC (a division of Man Group plc), employs a proprietary model-driven quantitative approach combined with fundamental research to select stocks with attractive valuations, positive long-term growth characteristics, sustainable competitive advantages, benign competitive environments, and favorable industry dynamics; it primarily targets securities in the Russell 1000 Value Index or similar large-cap value stocks, with a weighted average market capitalization of approximately $183 billion, forward P/E ratio of 14.7, and P/B ratio of 2.6 as of September 30, 2025. Sector allocations include financials (29.9%), health care (21.4%), information technology (17.4%), and industrials (10.8%), with top holdings such as Cisco Systems Inc. (3.3%), Johnson & Johnson (2.7%), and Alphabet Inc. Class A (2.6%); the fund may also use equity index futures, securities lending, and a government money market fund for cash balances. Originally launched on October 31, 2003, as the American Beacon Bridgeway Large Cap Value Fund and previously sub-advised by Bridgeway Capital Management, LLC, the fund underwent a significant strategic shift effective May 1, 2024, when American Beacon Advisors terminated the prior sub-advisory agreement and appointed Numeric Investors LLC as the new sub-advisor, accompanied by a name change to American Beacon Man Large Cap Value Fund. This transition incorporated Numeric's systematic security selection models with ESG analysis as one of several investment considerations (without excluding sectors), updated portfolio management to Daniel Taylor (Chief Investment Officer, since 2024) and Ben Zhao (since 2024), and added risks related to growth companies, model errors, and quantitative processes. The R5 Class shares, with a net expense ratio of 0.82%, a minimum initial investment of $250,000, and total fund assets of approximately $229 million as of October 31, 2025 (R5 Class assets $77 million), are available to U.S. investors through institutional and advisor channels. The fund operates within the large value segment of the U.S. equity market, targeting institutional and retail investors seeking exposure to undervalued large-cap companies; it is domiciled in the United States, managed by American Beacon Advisors, Inc. (headquartered in Irving, Texas), and benchmarked against the Russell 1000 Value Index. No major acquisitions, funding rounds, or additional product launches specific to BRLVX have been reported in the last 1-2 years beyond the sub-advisor change.
