Business
Invesco BulletShares (R) 2023 USD Emerging Markets Debt ETF (BSCE) is an exchange-traded fund that provides targeted exposure to a portfolio of U.S. dollar-denominated emerging markets debt securities maturing in 2023; it tracks the Nasdaq BulletShares USD Emerging Markets Debt 2023 Index and invests at least 80% of its assets in corporate bonds, sovereign debt, and other fixed-income instruments comprising the index, including holdings in asset categories such as other (86.35%), sovereign (10.07%), cash (3.17%), and corporate bonds (0.41%). The fund, issued by Invesco Ltd., an independent global investment management firm founded in 1935 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, serves investors seeking predictable income and defined maturity profiles within the emerging markets bonds segment, with operations spanning U.S. and international markets through Invesco's presence in 20 countries. Geographically, it focuses on USD-denominated debt from emerging market issuers across regions like Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe. The ETF underwent complete liquidation on April 6, 2023, pursuant to a plan of termination, with all shares redeemed in exchange for a liquidating distribution reflecting its net assets after provisions for liabilities; this followed the standard BulletShares strategy where, approaching maturity, holdings mature or are called, proceeds shift to cash equivalents like U.S. Treasury bills or commercial paper, and the fund terminates without shareholder approval. Invesco Ltd., the parent entity within the Invesco Exchange-Traded Self-Indexed Fund Trust, has since expanded its BulletShares lineup, including new launches like the Invesco BulletShares 2032 High Yield Corporate Bond ETF (BSJW) and ongoing enhancements to fixed-income laddering strategies. Recent strategic developments at Invesco include a December 2025 partnership with LGT Capital Partners for private equity, credit, and infrastructure portfolios targeting U.S. retail and retirement investors, as well as an April 2025 agreement with MassMutual to repurchase $1 billion of preferred stock and form a product and distribution alliance with Barings for income solutions.
