First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund VIII - FT Vest Laddered Emerging Markets Buffer ETF is an actively managed exchange-traded fund launched on April 7, 2026, that seeks capital appreciation through a diversified, laddered portfolio of FT Vest Emerging Markets Buffer ETFs. The fund invests principally in four underlying ETFs with staggered annual Target Outcome Periods, generally resetting one underlying fund’s cap and buffer each calendar quarter. The underlying ETFs employ FLEX Options referencing the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF to seek returns that correspond to EEM’s price performance up to predetermined upside caps while providing, before fees and expenses, a buffer against the first 10% of EEM losses over their respective one-year outcome periods. BUFE provides investors, financial advisers and institutional users with a single-ticker vehicle for diversified exposure across multiple emerging-markets target-outcome vintages, including March, June, September and December series of FT Vest Emerging Markets Buffer ETFs. The fund itself does not offer a stated downside buffer or directly realize the full caps and buffers of its underlying ETFs, and it may bear underlying-fund expenses. First Trust Advisors L.P., a federally registered investment adviser based in Wheaton, Illinois, serves as investment adviser; First Trust Portfolios L.P., an affiliated FINRA-registered broker-dealer, distributes ETF creation units; and Vest Financial LLC sub-advises the fund, with Karan Sood and Trevor Lack serving as portfolio managers. The fund operates in the U.S. exchange-traded-products market and provides indirect exposure to large- and mid-capitalization companies across global emerging markets through EEM-linked options strategies. Its principal recent strategic development is its April 2026 launch as one of three actively managed Laddered ETFs added to First Trust’s Target Outcome ETF suite, alongside the FT Vest Laddered U.S. Equity Uncapped Accelerator ETF and FT Vest Laddered U.S. Equity Equal Weight Buffer ETF, expanding First Trust’s outcome-focused investment-product offering.
