- Century Enka Limited engages in the manufacture and sale of synthetic yarns and related products primarily in India, operating internationally as well. Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Pune, India, the company produces a broad range of nylon filament yarns including monofilament, multifilament, mother yarn, fully drawn yarns, partially oriented yarns, drawn textured yarns, air-textured yarns, tow yarns, draw wound yarns, and jumbo beam yarns. It is the largest producer of Nylon Filament Yarn and the second-largest manufacturer of Nylon Tyre Cord Fabric (NTCF) in India. Century Enka's product portfolio includes customized nylon tyre cord fabrics for reinforcement of tyres used in motorcycles, scooters, light commercial vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, and off-the-road vehicles. Additionally, it manufactures high-quality nylon processed yarns for diverse applications such as fish twines, conveyor belts, sportswear, intimate wear, and foundation wear under its brand Enkalon. The company also produces polyester filament yarn, polyester chips, and nylon industrial yarns. Century Enka serves sectors including automotive, apparel, and industrial textiles, with operations mainly centered in India.
In the past two years, Century Enka has undertaken strategic expansion and operational improvements. Notably, it commissioned a new dipping plant in Pune in fiscal year 2024 to enhance production efficiency by eliminating the need to transport tyre cord fabric components between locations, thereby cutting transportation costs and emissions. It also expanded its spinning capacity to include polyester high modulus low shrinkage (HMLS) yarn and has initiated preparations to seek approval for polyester tyre cord fabric (PTCF) production, signaling a move toward diversifying its product range. The company has sustained compliance with environmental regulations, permitting continued operations of its nylon filament yarn spinning plant post-inspection in 2025. Additionally, Century Enka has made strategic equity investments, including acquiring additional stakes in ABReL Century Energy Limited, a captive power producer, aligning with regulatory frameworks for captive power users. Recent leadership continuity was marked by the re-appointment of its Managing Director, Suresh Sodani. These initiatives underscore Century Enka's commitment to product innovation, operational efficiency, and strategic growth within the synthetic fibers and textiles industry.
