Business
Capital Group Core Plus Income ETF (CGCP) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks total return through a balanced approach emphasizing income generation and capital preservation by investing primarily in a diversified portfolio of fixed-income securities. The ETF normally invests at least 80% of its assets in bonds and other debt securities, including corporate bonds; mortgage-backed securities; asset-backed securities; sovereign debt; debt issued by U.S. government-sponsored entities, federal agencies, and instrumentalities; and other non-Treasury fixed income instruments, with no restrictions on credit ratings or maturities and allocations across global issuers. Its portfolio features significant exposure to corporate bonds (approximately 28.71%), mortgage-backed securities (28.51%), asset-backed securities (16.73%), and sovereign debt (15.05%), managed through Capital Group's multiple manager system to pursue higher income than traditional core bond funds via credit sectors and duration positioning. CGCP trades on the NYSE Arca and targets investors seeking ballast in fixed-income allocations with broad credit fixed income exposure. Launched on February 22, 2022, by Capital Group Fixed Income ETF Trust, a series trust sponsored and managed by Capital Group, the ETF forms part of the firm's expanding lineup of active ETFs within the fixed income segment. Capital Group, founded in 1931 and headquartered at 333 South Hope Street in Los Angeles, California, operates worldwide with offices across the United States, Europe, Asia, and other regions, managing trillions in assets through its investor-owned structure. In recent developments, Capital Group has accelerated its ETF expansion, launching eight active ETF model portfolios in March 2025 and three new ETFs in June 2025, including its first U.S. large growth (CGGG), U.S. large value (CGVV), and high yield bond (CGHY) strategies, growing its U.S. ETF suite to 25 funds with registered investment advisors comprising a significant portion of the business. These initiatives build on CGCP's role in the firm's core-plus fixed income offerings and reflect strategic shifts toward model portfolio solutions and high yield capabilities, leveraging over $49 billion in high yield assets under management, amid ongoing growth since entering the ETF market in 2022. No major acquisitions, funding rounds, or reorganizations specific to CGCP have been reported in the last 1-2 years.
