Business
Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento, S.A.B. de C.V. is a leading entertainment company primarily engaged in live entertainment, event promotion, and venue management across Latin America and the United States. The company operates through its core business segments, including concert and festival promotion; theatrical productions; sporting events; amusement parks; and convention center operations such as Centro Banamex in Mexico City. It also has interests in radio station management in Latin America and has historically operated various entertainment venues and amusement parks. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Mexico City, the company has established a significant presence in the media, entertainment, and live event sectors throughout Mexico, Central America, and parts of the U.S. Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento’s key products and services include concert and festival production under its subsidiary OCESA Entretenimiento, theatrical productions including licensing and staging of international Broadway shows such as The Lion King, major sporting events including the promotion of the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix, management of amusement parks, and operation of large-scale convention and exhibition centers. The company also engages in promotional services, marketing for entertainment events, and radio broadcasting in select Latin American markets. Recent major changes include a deepened strategic partnership with Live Nation Entertainment, the global live entertainment powerhouse. In 2021, Live Nation initially acquired a 51% controlling stake in OCESA Entretenimiento, and in 2025, Live Nation expanded its ownership to 75%, with Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento retaining a 25% stake and extending CEO Alejandro Soberón’s contract through 2032. This transaction included a significant cash infusion for CIE, which it plans to deploy for debt reduction and working capital optimization. The partnership with Live Nation has accelerated growth in the Mexican live music market, tripling fan attendance since 2019 and solidifying Mexico as one of the world’s top live music markets. Additionally, CIE continues to promote and produce major festivals such as Corona Capital and Coca-Cola Flow Fest and manages high-profile artist tours in Mexico and Central America. The company's expansion efforts include acquiring stakes in Mexico City’s horse racing track and ownership of amusement parks in Mexico and the U.S., as well as operating large convention centers and hosting trade fairs. Its live entertainment offerings target a wide range of customers including individual concertgoers, corporate clients, sports fans, and families seeking leisure and cultural experiences. Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento remains a significant player in the Latin American entertainment industry, continuously evolving through partnerships and portfolio diversification to capitalize on the growing demand for live entertainment experiences in the region.
