iClima Climate Change Solutions ETF (CLMA) is an exchange-traded fund that provides investors with exposure to a global portfolio of companies offering products and services enabling CO2e avoidance solutions, including green energy, green transportation, water and waste improvements, decarbonisation enabling technologies, and sustainable products such as green hydrogen, fuel cells, distributed generation, electric vehicles, energy storage, smart meters, and vehicle-to-grid systems. Launched in December 2020 by iClima Earth Ltd, a London-based green fintech focused on decarbonisation investments, the ETF originally tracked the iClima Global Decarbonisation Enablers Index on the HANetf white-label platform and listed on the London Stock Exchange and other global exchanges. It targets institutional and retail investors seeking climate impact through quantifiable CO2e avoidance potential across producer manufacturing, utilities, process industries, electronic technology, and consumer durables sectors.
In July 2024, Guinness Global Investors assumed management of the ETF, transitioning it from a passive strategy to an actively managed approach benchmarked against the MSCI World Index, with a focus on companies demonstrating sustainable characteristics that contribute to reduced global carbon emissions in sustainable energy and energy technology sectors; the fund was renamed Guinness Sustainable Energy UCITS ETF while retaining the CLMA ticker. Earlier in 2024, HANetf merged the S&P Global Clean Energy Select HANzero UCITS ETF (ZERO) into CLMA to consolidate its thematic range amid low assets under management for the acquired product, enhancing CLMA's scale and its Article 9 SFDR 'dark green' sustainability classification. Additionally, in March 2024, HANetf partnered with Tidal Financial Group to offer cross-market white-label ETF services, enabling expanded issuance of UCITS ETFs in Europe and '40 Act ETFs in the US, potentially broadening CLMA's operational reach.
The ETF operates globally, with holdings diversified across developed and emerging markets, and maintains approximately 162 securities with a net expense ratio of 0.65%, managed under Tidal ETF Trust in the US and through HANetf's Irish platforms in Europe. iClima Earth, headquartered in London, UK, continues to influence the strategy through its proprietary research on climate innovators, while no parent company relationship is specified beyond platform partnerships.
