Business
Condor Gold Plc operates as a gold exploration and development company primarily focused on precious metal resources in Nicaragua, Central America. The company holds a 100% interest in the La India gold project, covering 11 concessions across 588 square kilometers in the La India Gold Mining District. Additionally, it owns 100% interests in the Rio Luna concession in the Central Highlands and the Estrella concession, both in Nicaragua. Its core activities include exploration and development of gold and silver resources, aiming to advance projects to production stages. The company’s main product offering centers on gold mining assets with substantial mineral resources and reserves, including measured, indicated, and inferred gold ounces in its project portfolio. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Godalming, United Kingdom, Condor Gold operates within the metals and mining sector, targeting gold extraction markets. The company’s flagship project, La India, has an NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource encompassing millions of ounces of gold and silver, with plans to further develop production capabilities and optimize resource conversion into reserves. In recent strategic developments, in late 2024 and early 2025, Condor Gold entered into a recommended acquisition agreement with Metals Exploration plc (AIM:MTL) with a deal valued at approximately £67.5 million. The transaction, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, aims to integrate Condor Gold’s substantial development-ready gold projects with Metals Exploration’s producing assets, including their Runruno gold mine and the copper/gold Abra project. This acquisition is a major operational shift for Condor Gold, promising to enhance cash flow, diversify geographic exposure, and accelerate pathways to commercial production. Following the court-approved scheme of arrangement, Condor Gold’s board resigned, and the company was delisted from AIM in January 2025 as part of the transaction completion process. Condor Gold’s management has significant expertise in mineral exploration, project financing, and development, focusing on unlocking value from its Nicaragua gold assets through systematic exploration, feasibility studies, and project financing initiatives. The company had anticipated mine life spans of around 8–12 years at key projects, with targeted average annual gold production scaling from approximately 80,000 to 150,000 ounces depending on project phases. Overall, Condor Gold Plc offers gold exploration and development services with a clear strategic focus on growth in Central America, backed by recent acquisition activity that positions the company within a larger diversified mining group for enhanced operational and financial prospects. Its key asset base, project pipeline, and ongoing integration into Metals Exploration define the company’s current profile and future outlook.
