The company maintains production and processing bases in 17 countries, with significant operations in Thailand, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Malaysia, Laos, India, and other international markets, generating revenue from both domestic and export sales. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, CPF forms part of the larger Charoen Pokphand Group and employs approximately 73,941 people globally. In recent developments, CPF announced in April 2025 its acquisition of the remaining 23.8% stake in CP Pokphand Co. Ltd. from Japan's Itochu Corporation for approximately US$1.1 billion, achieving full ownership of the Bermuda-incorporated entity that manages agribusiness operations including animal farming and processed food distribution in China and Vietnam; this move enhances management flexibility and strategic execution in the region. In November 2025, CPF formed a joint venture, CPF NH Foods Co., Ltd., with Japan's NH Foods Ltd. to produce premium processed pork products, combining expertise in innovation, food safety, protein production, and sustainable manufacturing to meet rising Asian demand. These initiatives follow prior efforts like the 2022 privatization of CP Pokphand and ongoing sustainability advancements, including 49.4% traceability of key raw materials such as maize, soy, palm oil, cassava, and fishmeal across multiple countries in 2023.
