Business
Deepak Fertilisers And Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (DFPCL) is an Indian multinational company primarily engaged in the manufacture, trading, and sale of bulk chemicals, fertilizers, petrochemicals, and industrial chemicals. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, DFPCL operates across India with key production facilities and has a significant presence in the agricultural and industrial chemicals sectors. The company manufactures a broad range of fertilizers including nitrogen-phosphorous-potassium (NPK) variants, specialty fertilizers, water-soluble fertilizers, bentonite sulfur, nitro phosphate (NP), muriate of potash, diammonium phosphate (DAP), single super phosphate, sulfur, micronutrients, biofertilizers, and technical ammonium nitrate. On the petrochemical side, it produces isopropyl alcohol (both pharmaceutical and industrial grades), nitric acid, liquid carbon dioxide, polymers such as polypropylene, polyethylene, and polystyrene, along with related petrochemical products. Its real estate segment includes the development of Creaticity, India’s first lifestyle center dedicated to home interiors and design, covering over 600,000 square feet. Recent significant developments for DFPCL include the setting up of a new nitric acid plant at Dahej, Gujarat, with an investment of Rs 550 crore to meet rising demand, and progress on the Gopalpur Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) project and Nitric Acid project, both anticipated for commissioning by the end of the fiscal year 2026. The company secured a 15-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with Equinor to support feedstock requirements for its ammonia production, enhancing supply reliability and margin stability. DFPCL also completed the full acquisition of Platinum Blasting Services in Australia, expanding its international footprint. The firm is advancing its focus on specialty chemicals, including environmentally friendly solutions like PICKBRITE stainless steel pickling and Electronic Grade IPA for pharmaceutical and industrial applications. Operationally, DFPCL continues to leverage its integrated value chain with a 60% revenue increase reported in recent quarters and a strategic demerger of its mining chemicals and fertilizer businesses to drive operational efficiencies. The company's product portfolio is marketed under several flagship brands such as Deepak, Mahadhan, Mahagro, Mahacrop, Mahachem, Mahapet, Mahapol, and Mahasol, targeting agricultural sectors, industrial users, and specialized markets in India and internationally. DFPCL maintains subsidiaries including Mahadhan AgriTech Limited and SCM Fertichem Limited, reinforcing its market presence. The company serves diverse end-user segments with a focus on technological enhancements and expansion in capacity to strengthen its market leadership in fertilizers, petrochemicals, and industrial chemicals.
