Business
Invesco DB Gold Fund (DGL), a series of Invesco DB Multi-Sector Commodity Trust, is a commodity exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the changes, whether positive or negative, in the level of the DBIQ Optimum Yield Gold Index Excess Return, plus interest income from its holdings of primarily United States Treasury securities, less the Fund's expenses. The Fund invests primarily in gold futures contracts traded on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, along with United States Treasury Obligations, money market mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds tracking short-term Treasury indexes for collateral and cash management; it does not invest directly in physical gold bullion. Formed on January 5, 2007, and domiciled in Delaware with principal executive offices at c/o Invesco Capital Management LLC in Downers Grove, Illinois, the Fund targets investors seeking cost-effective exposure to the gold commodity sector through a rules-based index strategy. In a major operational change announced on January 23, 2023, Invesco Capital Management LLC decided to liquidate and terminate the Fund due to low assets under management and strategic portfolio rationalization; trading of DGL shares on the NYSE Arca ceased after market close on March 3, 2023, with final pro rata cash distributions of $51.53144 per share made to remaining shareholders on March 10, 2023. This liquidation marked the Fund's closure, with all futures positions unwound and options contracts adjusted for cash settlement by the Options Clearing Corporation, accelerating expirations to March 17, 2023. No subsequent relaunches, mergers, or revivals of the Fund have been reported as of late 2025, reflecting Invesco's broader ETF consolidation efforts.
