Business
BTD Capital Fund (NYSEARCA:DIP) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks capital appreciation by investing primarily in individual U.S. equity securities, generally common stocks and real estate investment trusts included in the S&P 500, identified as oversold using proprietary artificial intelligence-driven algorithms developed by sub-adviser Kaiju ETF Advisors; the fund may also invest in U.S. equity ETFs, cash, cash equivalents, short-term U.S. government securities, investment grade money market instruments, and repurchase agreements. The Kaiju Algorithm employs technical indicators such as past price movements, trading volumes, liquidity levels, and investor sentiments to select short-term "buy the dip" opportunities in large-cap companies (market capitalization of $10 billion or above), typically holding positions from one to seven days before selling upon reaching estimated fair value; portfolio risk is managed through AI-driven regime classification and change detection engines that adjust holdings during bull, bear, neutral, or unknown market conditions, potentially increasing allocations to ETFs or cash to mitigate corrections. The fund, part of ETF Series Solutions and advised by Exchange Traded Concepts LLC with sub-advisory from Kaiju ETF Advisors, was launched on December 12, 2022, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange the following day, with headquarters operations tied to Exchange Traded Concepts in Oklahoma City and legal address c/o the adviser in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In a major strategic shift, the Board of Trustees of ETF Series Solutions, upon recommendation from adviser Exchange Traded Concepts LLC, approved the closure and liquidation of the BTD Capital Fund effective after market close on May 30, 2024, with portfolio liquidation beginning approximately May 22, 2024, resulting in increased cash holdings and deviation from its investment objective prior to pro rata cash distributions to shareholders as a taxable event; trading in shares was halted prior to market open on the liquidation date, and no new creation units were accepted thereafter. Previously managed under Kaiju ETF Advisors' high-turnover strategy (5,450% portfolio turnover for the fiscal period ended November 30, 2023), the fund targeted short-term mean reversions across S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 constituents using over 25 data factors for oversold asset identification and risk management. The fund operated within the U.S. equity market, serving retail and institutional investors seeking AI-enhanced alpha strategies in developed North American markets, with net assets under management of approximately $1.19 million and 40,000 shares outstanding as of recent profiles.
