Business
Douglas AG operates as an omnichannel premium beauty retailer in Europe, offering a wide range of beauty products including perfume, decorative cosmetics, skin care, hair care, and accessories. The company markets its products through multiple brands such as DOUGLAS, Nocibé, Parfumdreams, and Niche Beauty, utilizing a mix of offline stores, online stores, and e-commerce platforms. It operates across various European regions including DACHNL (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands), France, Southern Europe, Central-East Europe, and has a Parfumdreams/Niche Beauty segment. Douglas AG was founded in 1821 and is headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany. It is a subsidiary of Kirk Beauty International S.A. The company recently underwent a significant rebranding, changing its name from Kirk Beauty A GmbH to Douglas AG in February 2024. In March 2024, Douglas AG returned to public ownership with a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, raising approximately €850 million in new capital, enabling substantial debt reduction. In the financial year 2023/24, Douglas expanded its store network by opening 54 new stores, refurbishing 144 others, and closing 20 stores including six franchise locations. It continues to focus on strategic growth with upcoming store openings planned in Antwerp, Salzburg, and Berlin. The company also emphasizes operational improvements including strengthening its brand, advancing supply chain and IT capabilities, and maintaining tight cost controls to enhance profitability and sustainability. Douglas AG continues to hold a leading position as Europe’s number one omnichannel premium beauty destination with around 1,850 stores and a strong presence across its targeted markets.
