Business
Familytex (BD) Limited is a Bangladesh-based textile and ready-made garment manufacturing company historically focused on the production and export of knitwear and woven apparel. The company's product portfolio comprises knit garments, including knit tops, bottoms, and casual T-shirts; woven apparel, including denim trousers, jeans, casual pants, and shorts; outerwear, including light and padded jackets; swimwear and activewear; skirts and fashion apparel; and garment processing services, including fabric washing, commercial embroidery, screen printing, and specialized sewing operations. Incorporated in 2003 and commencing commercial production in 2006, the company is headquartered in Chattogram, Bangladesh, with its historical manufacturing base situated within the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) catering to international export markets across Europe, North America, and Asia. In recent operational and corporate developments, Familytex has experienced prolonged operational suspension and financial insolvency, leading the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to terminate its lease agreement and divest its factory premises, machinery, and manufacturing assets through a public tender process to Bangladesh Spinners and Knitters (Pvt) Limited. Concurrently, the company has faced asset recovery actions from financial institutions, extensive regulatory scrutiny from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), and reclassification into the Z-category on the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges as a non-operational corporate entity.
