Business
Daimler Truck Holding AG is the world's largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles, producing a broad range of trucks and buses under leading brands including Freightliner, Western Star, Mercedes-Benz, FUSO, BharatBenz, RIZON, Setra and Thomas Built Buses; it also provides tailored financial services encompassing financing, leasing, fleet management, investments and insurance brokerage. The company operates through five main segments: Trucks North America, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Trucks Asia, Daimler Buses, and Financial Services, with maximum revenue generated from Trucks North America, where it develops, manufactures and sells trucks under Freightliner and Western Star brands alongside Thomas Built Buses products. Its offerings span light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks for long-distance, distribution and construction-site haulage; city and intercity buses, coaches and bus chassis; and special vehicles including off-highway solutions and industrial engines, serving customers in transportation, logistics and passenger transit sectors worldwide across North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and other regions. Headquartered in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, the company traces its origins to 1896 and employs approximately 100,000 people at over 35 main locations globally. Recent developments include the launch in late 2025 of the second phase of customer trials for five Mercedes-Benz GenH2 fuel-cell trucks with partners such as Hornbach, Reber Logistik, Teva Germany, Rhenus and DHL Supply Chain to gather real-world data for series production targeted in the early 2030s; selection of Innoviz Technologies as LiDAR partner in December 2025 for autonomous Freightliner Cascadia trucks in collaboration with Torc Robotics; Daimler Buses' announcement in September 2025 to expand public charging stations for electric buses and coaches at tourist sites starting in 2026; and the "Stronger 2030" strategy unveiled in mid-2025 aiming to boost industrial free cash flow by 50% over 2024 levels, grow parts and services revenue, and advance zero-emission technologies alongside diesel systems through modular platforms.
