DTE Energy Company (NYSE: DTE) is a diversified energy company engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity to 2.3 million residential, commercial and industrial customers primarily in southeastern Michigan through its DTE Electric subsidiary; the purchase, storage, transmission, distribution and sale of natural gas to 1.3 million customers throughout Michigan via DTE Gas; renewable energy projects that produce and sell electricity and pipeline-quality gas, metallurgical and petroleum coke to steel and other industries, reduced-emissions fuels such as renewable natural gas, and custom on-site energy solutions including cogeneration of electricity and steam, compressed air, hot and chilled water, wastewater treatment, backup power and energy efficiency services through DTE Vantage; and power, natural gas and environmental marketing and trading, structured transactions and optimization of company-owned generation assets via DTE Energy Trading. Founded in 1996 as a holding company reorganizing from Detroit Edison (established 1903) with roots tracing to 1849 for gas operations, DTE Energy maintains corporate headquarters in Detroit, Michigan, and operates utilities principally in Michigan while extending non-utility activities across 15 U.S. states including Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Texas. The company serves diverse customer segments encompassing residential users, commercial real estate, industrial manufacturers in sectors such as steel, chemicals and automotive, institutional facilities and data centers, with a generation portfolio featuring an 11,084-megawatt capacity mix of coal, nuclear (including the 1.1-gigawatt Fermi 2 plant), natural gas, hydroelectric pumped storage and renewables. In recent developments, DTE Energy executed a 1.4-gigawatt data center power agreement, issued a request for proposals for 450 megawatts of standalone battery energy storage projects to support its CleanVision plan targeting 60% renewables by 2030, began construction of the 220-megawatt Trenton Channel Energy Storage Center set for 2026 operation, launched three MIGreenPower solar farms adding 800 megawatts, secured $8.81 billion in conditional U.S. Department of Energy loan guarantees for renewable generation and storage in January 2025, committed $2 billion annually alongside Consumers Energy to procure from Michigan suppliers for energy infrastructure including transformers and solar components, and invested nearly $3 billion through third-quarter 2025 and a record $4 billion in 2024 across utility infrastructure upgrades, cleaner generation and natural gas system expansions to enhance reliability and reduce outages by nearly 70%. DTG represents DTE Energy's 2021 Series E 4.375% junior subordinated debentures, a component of its financing for these ongoing energy transition and growth initiatives.
