Business
Global X Rare Earths & Critical Materials ETF (EART) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the Solactive Global Rare Earths & Critical Materials Index. The fund invests at least 80% of its total assets in securities that comprise the underlying index, which tracks companies involved in the production, refinement, processing, and recycling of rare earth elements and critical materials; manufacturers of rare earth magnets and advanced materials used in electric vehicles, robotics, defense, and electronics; and producers of critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite. It holds equity securities across segments including rare earth mining and processing, battery materials production, and semiconductor-grade materials supply, with exposure to leading companies like Lynas Rare Earths Ltd., MP Materials Corp., and Pilbara Minerals Ltd.; the portfolio is market capitalization-weighted and rebalanced quarterly to reflect index methodology. The ETF operates globally, with primary holdings in companies based in Australia, the United States, Canada, and China, targeting institutional and retail investors interested in thematic exposure to the critical materials supply chain essential for the energy transition and advanced technology sectors. Launched in 2022, it is managed by Global X Management Company LLC, a New York-based subsidiary of Mirae Asset Global Investments Co., Ltd., and is headquartered in New York, USA. Recent developments include an expanded index methodology in 2025 to incorporate additional critical minerals producers amid rising geopolitical focus on supply chain security; strategic inflows from pension funds following U.S. policy incentives for domestic critical materials production in late 2025; and a partnership announcement with Solactive AG in early 2026 to enhance index transparency and ESG screening integration, reflecting the ETF's adaptation to evolving regulatory and market demands for sustainable sourcing.
