Business
ProShares Ultra MSCI Emerging Markets (EET) seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, that correspond to two times (2x) the daily performance of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. The fund provides leveraged exposure primarily through derivatives, including swap agreements with major global financial institutions such as Societe Generale, Goldman Sachs International, Bank of America NA, Citibank NA, and UBS AG; these swaps reference the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM) or components of the index, supplemented by U.S. Treasury bills and net other assets. The underlying MSCI Emerging Markets Index measures the performance of large- and mid-capitalization companies across 24 emerging market countries, including Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates, capturing approximately 85% of the market capitalization in those regions. Launched on June 2, 2009, and domiciled in the United States, EET trades on the NYSE Arca exchange under the ticker EET, with a net expense ratio of 0.95% (gross 1.46%, with contractual waiver through September 30, 2026) and quarterly distributions. ProShares Trust, the issuer managed by ProShare Advisors LLC, is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, and has been at the forefront of the ETF industry since 2006, managing over $95 billion in assets across leveraged, inverse, and strategic ETFs. The fund targets sophisticated investors seeking amplified short-term exposure to emerging markets equities across diversified sectors and market capitalizations, with holdings typically non-diversified and focused on financial instruments for daily reset leverage. In recent developments, ProShares strengthened its distribution capabilities in September 2025 by hiring three Regional Vice Presidents—Chad Brand, Mike Hart, and Matt Zorumski—to expand reach amid business growth and ongoing recruitment for over two dozen roles across distribution, marketing, operations, product, and technology. The firm launched its first interval fund with private equity exposure in October 2025 and introduced the first-ever Dynamic Buffer ETFs in June 2025, featuring patent-pending technology that automatically adjusts protection based on market volatility as part of the $65 billion buffer ETF market. These initiatives underscore ProShares' commitment to product innovation and client service enhancement, positioning the firm for continued expansion into 2026 and beyond, with no specific acquisitions, partnerships, or reorganizations directly tied to EET reported in the last 1-2 years.
