Business
General Warehouses of Egypt S.A.E. is an Egypt-based public shareholding company engaged in the provision of integrated warehousing, stevedoring, cargo handling, customs brokerage, and inland freight transportation services. Founded in 1943 and headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt, the company operates as a key subsidiary of the Maritime and Land Transport Holding Company under the oversight of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport. The company manages its operations across four core business divisions: Warehousing and Storage Operations, Port Handling and Stevedoring Services, Inland and Multimodal Freight Transportation, and Customs Clearance and Logistics Support. The company provides a wide range of logistics and supply chain services, including: public and customs-bonded storage across secure covered warehouses, open yards, and specialized sheds; temperature-controlled and cold storage facilities for perishable agricultural produce, food products, and pharmaceuticals; container freight station services, including container stuffing, destuffing, sorting, tallying, and consolidation; handling and storage of general cargo, dry bulk, liquid bulk, and heavy-lift project cargo; hazardous and chemical materials storage in designated compliant facilities; vessel loading, discharging, and quay handling operations; cargo packaging, palletizing, shrink-wrapping, weighing, and re-bagging services; domestic road haulage utilizing a dedicated fleet of flatbed trailers, low-bed carriers, container chassis, and specialized heavy-transport vehicles; intermodal transport solutions connecting maritime sea terminals with dry ports and inland distribution hubs; and electronic customs documentation processing and tariff consultancy. General Warehouses of Egypt serves domestic and international shipping lines, industrial manufacturers, commodity importers, agricultural exporters, and commercial distributors. The company maintains an extensive operational presence across major Egyptian commercial ports and transit corridors, including Alexandria, El Dekheila, Damietta, Port Said, Suez, Adabiya, Safaga, and Nuweiba, alongside inland storage yards situated across key industrial zones in the Greater Cairo and Nile Delta regions. In recent operations, the company has implemented significant modernization and expansion programs in line with national initiatives to transform Egypt into a regional logistics gateway. General Warehouses of Egypt has advanced its digital transformation by integrating its logistics management infrastructure with Egypt's National Single Window for Foreign Trade facilitation platform and deploying automated warehouse management systems to enhance cargo tracking and expedite customs clearance cycles. Additionally, the company has undertaken substantial rehabilitation and capacity expansion of its bonded storage yards and container handling areas across the Alexandria and El Dekheila port complexes, upgraded its road transport and material handling fleet with high-capacity equipment, and expanded partnerships to provide integrated logistics and transit services connecting maritime sea terminals to newly developed inland dry ports.
