Business
El Ezz Aldekhela Steel - Alexandria S.A.E. is an Egypt-based integrated steel manufacturing company primarily engaged in the production, fabrication, and distribution of finished and semi-finished steel products. Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt, the company operates as a major subsidiary of Ezz Steel. The company operates large-scale integrated production facilities located in the Dekheila industrial zone adjacent to Dekheila Port on the Mediterranean Sea, utilizing natural gas-based direct reduction plants, electric arc furnaces, ladle refining furnaces, and continuous casting units. The company operates across three core business segments: Long Steel Products, Flat Steel Products, and Intermediate Steel Products. Its comprehensive product portfolio includes long steel products, consisting of high-tensile deformed reinforcing steel bars (rebars) supplied in standard lengths and custom dimensions for civil, residential, and infrastructure construction; wire rods supplied in coils across diverse metallurgical grades and diameters for industrial wire drawing, welded wire mesh, binding wire, nails, fasteners, and tire cord manufacturing; flat steel products, consisting of hot-rolled coils, hot-rolled sheets, and slit strips manufactured via compact strip production technology for structural steel tubes, pipes, automotive frames, heavy machinery, shipping containers, storage tanks, and household appliances; and intermediate steel products, consisting of direct reduced iron (sponge iron) generated through gas reduction of iron ore pellets, as well as continuously cast square steel billets and flat steel slabs. Complementary services include custom steel cutting and bending, metallurgical testing, logistical handling, and technical support for industrial clients. El Ezz Aldekhela Steel - Alexandria serves domestic building, industrial, and manufacturing sectors across Egypt and exports finished products to markets across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, North America, and Sub-Saharan Africa. In recent corporate and strategic developments, El Ezz Aldekhela Steel - Alexandria completed a landmark ownership restructuring and privatization transaction under Egypt's state asset monetization program, repurchasing minority equity stakes held by public entities and state-owned banks, including the National Investment Bank, National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation. Following the completion of the state-owned share buyout and a related tender offer financed via specialized credit facilities, the company approved and finalized the voluntary delisting of its shares from the Egyptian Exchange (EGX: IRAX), streamlining its corporate governance and integrating its operations more directly within Ezz Steel. Concurrently, the company has implemented industrial efficiency programs across its direct reduction and electric arc furnace operations, targeting reduced specific energy consumption, enhanced scrap utilization, and lower greenhouse gas emission intensity to maintain competitiveness and comply with international regulations such as the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
