Business
Eaton Vance New York Municipal Bond Fund (NYSE American: ENX) is a closed-end management investment company that seeks to provide current income exempt from regular federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes. The Fund invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of municipal obligations issued by or on behalf of the State of New York and its political subdivisions, including revenue bonds backed by utilities, transportation, housing, education, hospitals, water and sewer systems, general obligations, and special tax revenues; it employs leverage through residual interest bond (RIB) financing comprising approximately 33% of total investments to enhance tax-exempt income; and it may utilize derivative instruments such as financial futures contracts, interest rate swaps, forward rate contracts, and residual interests in trusts holding municipal securities. The Fund's portfolio, managed by Chris J. Eustance, CFA (since 2019) and Paul Metheny, CFA (since 2023), features approximately 105 holdings with an average effective maturity of 16 years, leverage-adjusted duration of 13.47 years, and 8.44% of assets subject to the alternative minimum tax (AMT), targeting retail and institutional investors seeking tax-advantaged income from the New York municipal bond market. Eaton Vance New York Municipal Bond Fund was established on August 30, 2002, and is managed by Eaton Vance Management, a division of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, with principal executive offices at One Post Office Square, Boston, Massachusetts. In a major strategic shift approved by shareholders at the 2025 annual meeting on September 23, 2025, the Fund commenced liquidation of its portfolio in September 2025 and ceased secondary market trading on the NYSE American LLC after October 24, 2025, with final cash distributions to shareholders expected on or about October 27, 2025, following standstill agreements with activist investor Saba Capital Management.
