Business
Eaton Vance Enhanced Equity Income Fund II (EOS) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company whose primary investment objective is to provide current income, with a secondary objective of capital appreciation. The Fund invests primarily in a portfolio of common stocks of mid- and large-cap U.S. issuers that Eaton Vance Management, its investment adviser, believes exhibit above-average growth and financial strength; it sells covered call options on a substantial portion of its portfolio, typically covering 48% of the stock portfolio with options that have an average expiration of 20 days and are 4.10% out-of-the-money, to generate additional income from option premiums. The Fund benchmarks its performance against the Russell 1000 Growth Index, the CBOE S&P 500 BuyWrite Index, and the CBOE NASDAQ-100 BuyWrite Index; it pays monthly distributions to shareholders pursuant to a managed distribution plan, with recent distributions of $0.1523 per share and rates of 7.75% at NAV and 7.55% at market price as of June 30, 2025. As of June 30, 2025, the Fund's total net assets stood at $1.3 billion, with approximately 99% allocated to common stocks across sectors such as information technology (46%), communication services (14%), consumer discretionary (12%), and semiconductors; top holdings included NVIDIA Corp. (12.9%), Microsoft Corp. (9.0%), Amazon.com Inc. (8.0%), Apple Inc. (6.0%), and Broadcom Inc. (5.6%). Eaton Vance Enhanced Equity Income Fund II was launched on January 31, 2005, and is managed by Eaton Vance Management, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Morgan Stanley headquartered at One Post Office Square, Boston, Massachusetts; common shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange, providing daily liquidity, often at a premium or discount to NAV (2.67% premium as of June 30, 2025). The Fund continues its consistent monthly managed distribution policy without recent changes, alongside routine portfolio adjustments reflected in semi-annual reports showing a six-month NAV return of 5.40% and market price return of 5.28% ended June 30, 2025; no major acquisitions, funding rounds, partnerships, new product launches, or strategic shifts have been announced in the last 1-2 years.
