Business
First Eagle Global Fund Class C (FESGX) is a mutual fund managed by First Eagle Investments that seeks long-term growth of capital through investments primarily in common stocks and securities convertible into common stocks of U.S. and foreign companies of any market capitalization; it also allocates to debt instruments without regard to credit rating or maturity, gold and other precious metals, and futures contracts related to precious metals. The fund employs a flexible, benchmark-agnostic global value strategy emphasizing downside protection, with typical portfolio allocations including approximately 40% U.S. equities, 44% non-U.S. equities, 5% cash, and 11% in gold-related assets, alongside exposure to sectors such as consumer defensive, industrials, communication services, financial services, and technology. Class C shares feature a net expense ratio of 1.86%, a 1% deferred load, a minimum initial investment of $2,500, and daily pricing, with total net assets for the fund standing at approximately $68 billion as of late 2025. First Eagle Investments, the fund's adviser, founded in 1864 and headquartered at 1345 Avenue of the Americas in New York City, U.S., manages about $152 billion in assets across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative credit strategies, with operations spanning eight offices worldwide. In June 2025, Genstar Capital acquired a majority stake in First Eagle Investments from Blackstone and Corsair, providing capital to support organic growth and acquisitions while preserving the firm's investment teams and client-centric focus. Most recently, in December 2025, First Eagle announced an all-cash agreement to acquire Diamond Hill Investment Group for approximately $473 million, expected to close by Q3 2026 pending approvals; this deal will expand fixed income and equity capabilities, boosting pro forma assets under management to around $208 billion and enhancing the platform for strategies like the Global Fund. In early 2025, First Eagle launched ETFs including the First Eagle Global Equity ETF and First Eagle Overseas Equity ETF, extending its core global value approach into the ETF market.
